Curated by Thuthuka Sibisi, Grace Notes, a unique concert of a cappella sacred music. Juxtaposing ancient and modern music from Europe and Africa, Grace Notes intersperses sacred compositions by Byrd, Palestrina, Duruflé and Pärt with religious music drawn from Xhosa, Venda, Zulu and Swahili traditions.
Grace Notes is a moving reflection on the yearning to express spirituality through music, and uncovers lines of connection across continents and centuries. Its acclaimed premiere in France in 2016, have been followed by sell out performances in Cape Town in 2017 and 2018 and Cape Town Opera’s award winning chorus shines in Grace Notes.
