SUPPORT US

You may donate directly to Cape Town Opera (a registered charity in South Africa) or to the UK Friends of Cape Town Opera (a registered charity in England and Wales) through the online giving platform Golden Giving.

Alternatively, contact us to discuss the best ways to give and as the UK based charity is registered with HM Revenue & Customs to claim gift aid, if you are a UK tax payer, please consider completing our Gift Aid form.

Your gift will enable Cape Town Opera to provide training and performance opportunities to South African singers and broaden access to opera through:

  • Employment for performing artists and production staff
  • Participation in world class productions as soloists or chorus members
  • Regular individual voice lessons and career mentorship
  • Access to international master classes & competitions
  • Free tickets and transport to dress rehearsals for children and local communities
  • Vocal boot camp workshops at schools in townships across South Africa

Annual individual UK Friends of Cape Town Opera Patron levels

£300 (Bronze), £600 (Silver), £900 (Gold) and £1800 (Platinum)

Our UK Friends Patrons are invited to attend both the annual London concert and year-end Cape Town Patrons event, and are entitled to tickets to opera performances in Cape Town. When the company tours productions to the UK, our UK Friends Patrons are the first to know – with advance and discount ticket options available. We keep in contact with quarterly emailers and information about our singers, upcoming concerts and operas, and the ongoing impact of the UK Friends Patrons’ giving in South Africa. Thus, the UK Friends Patrons enjoy the same privileges as our Cape Town Patrons and are acknowledged in programmes and other publications in the same manner.

For larger gifts – from individuals, trusts, foundations, corporates and estates – we have numerous opportunities to sponsor music education and the operatic arts in South Africa.

What does your contribution support?

  • £700 provides busing and tickets for 40 South African school students to attend a live opera performance, tour backstage and meet the singers
  • £3,000 provides weekly visits from a music teacher to a rural South African school choir for six months
  • £7,000 provides a Cape Town Opera Young Artist soloist with a bursary and weekly one-on-one coaching sessions for one year
  • £10,000 supports a member of the 16-voice Cape Town Opera Chorus for one year
  • £50,000 provides a fully-staged production with a live orchestra for Cape Town Opera’s annual student opera collaboration with the University of Cape Town College of Music

If you would like to support Cape Town Opera in the UK as a volunteer please do contact us. We would be grateful for your support.
